When I weigh myself before going to bed and then immediately after waking up, I find that Iâve lost weight. How can this happen?

Mostly, itâs from breathing (respiration) and sweating (perspiration). A little water leaves your body every time you exhale, and even if you donât notice any sweating, water also constantly leaves your body through your skin. And, as you know, water is heavy! Over the course of a nightâs sleep, an average person may lose about a pound of water. Overall, up to 60 percent of the adult human body is composed of water. Our lungs are about 80 percent water; even our bones are about 30 percent water.
